IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM OUR FRIENDS AT CAROLINA WILDLIFE CARE Dear Friends, Earlier today, I was advised that the bill H.4921 passed in the House with an amendment. Thanks to your efforts, the bill is once again written so that "animal" reads as its original definition, which includes cruelty protection for wildlife and exotics. The exact wording of the language used and any exclusions added to the bill will not be posted until tomorrow morning. Most of us only learned of H.4921 within the last 48 hours. With the simple addition of one word "domestic", this bill would have significantly altered our state’s animal cruelty laws, excluding wildlife and exotics from consideration. Clearly, there was a rush to move on the proposed changes. But as people learned of the bill’s potential impact, they too were quick to respond. Phone calls and email expressing extreme disapproval for the bill reached legislators across the state, and your concerns were validated today. Please accept my sincere appreciation and thanks for your help in protecting the welfare of wildlife. Your actions bring a real message of hope for all animals in South Carolina and to the people living here. Sincerely, Joanna Weitzel
